Feast of Tabernacles

Glory to GOD ;

Hundreds of people thronged the grounds at Gorantla on the 35th edition of ‘Gudarala Panduga,' (Feast of Tabernacles) which concluded here on Sunday. On the concluding day, people raised their hands and the sound of ‘Halleluiah' rent the air even as speakers got up to address the gathering on a Sunday morning. The milling crowd, which descended on Granola for the ‘Gudarala panduga,' hosted by the Hosanna ministries waited to hear the words “Repent and believe in the Word to be saved from the sinful life.

God Is Great

 The words of the speakers reverberated through the massive speakers. The devotees young and old, many with their families listened in rapt attention as the message went on till afternoon. Later, many families along with the children were baptized on the premises. The five-day festival has been steeped in history and had been inspired by the Feast of Tabernacles, as was observed by the IsIsraelite uring the Old Testaments, says a local pastor and a member of festival coordination committee. There had been a tradition of families, mostly from agriculture background, worshiping the Lord after harvest, sharing and communing with others since that time and the tradition had been carried through the modern ages, he says.

God Loves Us

 But of late, employees and students have also been participating in the festival. “This period is used for spiritual replenishment and renewing the commitment given to God. Some come with a prayer request, some of them have a belief that an annual visit would do them good,” says M. Benjamin, another pastor. Arrangements Arrangements have been made for over 15 lakh people to sleep, wash and have meals on the sprawling campus spread over 25 acres. A meal coupon worth Rs.25 is provided to the devotees and a series of massive shaminiyas have been erected to provide shelter to the crowds. The stage was artistically decorated with pictures of Jesus Christ and a festive atmosphere pervaded the entire campus.A host of dignitaries from abroad also attended the meeting.
